La Maison
Ortigia, Sicily, Italy

Staying at La Maison in Syracuse, Sicily, felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The rooms are nothing short of regal, with elegant furnishings and rich decor that evoke the grandeur of a castle. The beds certainly ensured for a restful nights sleep.

The bathrooms are equally impressive, featuring ornate touches of gold and clawfoot bathtubs that added to the overall sense of indulgence. Each morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast on the terrace, offering a variety of fresh and delicious options to start the day.

The owner and staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, making us feel like cherished guests in their own home. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, providing personalized recommendations and making us feel truly special.

Ortigia is a small, beautiful and walkable island. All the buildings are sand colored, and there are spots to swim everywhere along the coast. La Maison's location is ideal for exploring Ortigia. Situated in the heart of the city, it’s just a short walk to all the major attractions, restaurants, and shops, making it the perfect base for discovering the rich history and culture of the area.

We had some of our best meals in Ortigia, so If you are planning to visit, these two places are a must.
RESTAURANTS
Cortile Spirito Santo
This place truly deserves its Michelin star. Cortile Spirito Santo is located inside Palazzo Salomone luxury suites, an elegant building dating back to 1600 that is now fully renovated on the inside. You will enjoy a six course tasting menu from chef Giuseppe Torrisi inside the courtyard which overlooks the beautiful Church of the Holy Spirit. You will certainly get your moneys worth as they also give you the most delicious complementary bread assortment, palate cleansers and little treats. You can choose between a fish, meat or vegetarian menu. They prepare many of the courses table-size making it quite entertaining as well.

Sicilia In Tavola
From the looks of it, this restaurant is quite a hole in the wall, but the food blew me away. They serve regional dishes, including grilled fish & rustic pastas, in a cozy space. I HIGHLY recommend any of their seafood pastaa. I loved the vongole and pistachio ravioli. Their cannolis are also very delicious.
